About Us

GMS Innovation Pty Ltd, a name born out of a need to find a solution for giving muscle to the funeral industry hence
GMS stands for “Give Me Strength.’

As a Funeral Director/Manager Von also had a back injury.

"I was very aware of the need to comply with OHS & W requirements and a mechanical means of 'muscle' was sorely missing in the funeral industry. I thought there must be an easier, safer and better looking way to transfer and display caskets in one easy process without double handling or lifting."

Comprehensive research of the market found no effective solution.

"there were trolleys to choose from, but  inadequacies existed because those trolleys were  not designed to transfer coffins or lift and lower to the numerous heights required easily, quietly and smoothly while loaded that could also by the addition of design panels become the chapel Bier.  Aesthetics too are important in our industry"

"There was a real need to produce the correct ‘tool of the trade,’ It’s something that is used so frequently that an efficient trolley really is an essential item for any funeral director."

In a very bold move, Von left her career as a funeral director in order to help the funeral industry and embarked on the long process of professional consultation within the funeral industry, design engineers, manufacturing processes, trials & feedback loops to produce the most valuable answer for coffin transfer & display requirements. Top of the list was OHS&W requirements.

"Staff in the funeral industry carry, pull and lift weights far in excess of the regulated OHS&W standards of 25kg, and with the growing trend in increased weights of the deceased & oversized coffins the task is becoming more strenuous, creating more serious back and upper torso injuries resulting in high litigation costs to companies as well as requiring additional staff to help lift."

"It’s been a very long process, but the result is very pleasing for the funeral industry with trolleys that are not only functional but look beautiful too. The funeral industry is continually evolving, with market research proving that client families are requiring a more personalised funeral service for their loved one.  It can only be a step in the right direction for funeral companies to embrace this concept and to help alleviate serious injuries to their valuable staff. Our understanding of the industry allows us to provide the very best products and service.”
